C
lose to Yosemite National Park, Bradford Place in Sonora, California  was built in 1889 as a private residence. Today it is a small inn with the warmth of a bed and breakfast and the privacy of a hotel.  There are no butlers or bell hops but the little jewel has the flair one would expect of a small upscale property, including complimentary breakfast with the option of service to your room at no extra cost.  Meticulously restored, the accommodations vary in size from cozy and  intimate to gracious and luxurious with nearly every imaginable amenity including each guest room with a private spare-no-expense total climate control system.

S ince opening in 2000, this lodging showpiece located 130 miles east of San Francisco has become known as the place  to stay in California's central Sierra foothills for discerning business and leisure guests.

We look forward to hosting your visit.

John Eisemann and Dottie Musser

Bradford Place was built in 1889 for
the Wells Fargo agent and his family, Mr Dozier. Subsequently it sold to the Keil family.
Mr. Keil was a mining investor from Bavaria.
In 1903 Delia Shine became the owner.
It remained in her family until 1986 when
it first became a bed and breakfast inn.

JOSHIE'S MAY WEB LETTER

"After visiting a good many towns in the gold country, we are glad we chose to stay in Sonora because the town has more than one string in its bow."   -- Guests from the United Kingdom, November 7, 2007

W hether you are an early riser or someone who prefers sleep over food, you've found the right place.  The inn has a breakfast menu exclusively for lodging guests where you may order such Mother Lode entrees as the Gold Miner's Stuffed Potato shown here.   Breakfast may be delivered  to your room from 6:30 to 11:00 each morning.   Inn owner and breakfast chef Dottie Musser demonstrates her creativity and consideration for individual tastes and dietary needs, a testament to her graduate work in dietetics and to her experience as a Santa Barbara bed and breakfast innkeeper.

Bradford Place is in an ideal location smack dab in the middle of historic downtown Sonora, population 4,610 -- right next door to the county offices and the impressive court house, circa 1898. Its lovely restored neighborhood (scroll down for image) is one block west of Sonora's popular main street (Highway 49) lined with antique stores, art galleries and wonderful dining. In the heart of California's gold country, the inn is close to the gold rush villages of Columbia and Jamestown, twenty minutes or so to   the wineries, caverns and shops at Murphys, and just an hour to the grandeur of Yosemite National Park.

You are invited to relax and stay awhile, set your own pace and take in the fresh air.  Maybe rent a limousine and do some winery touring, cavern exploring or what have you. There's absolutely no need to rush because this is California dreamin'.  And check out isn't til noon!
