  Close to Yosemite National Park, Bradford Place in historic downtown Sonora, California was built in 1889 as a residence.  Today it is a very small inn — just four rooms each with an attached private bath, some with whirlpool tub.  The inn offers the warmth of a bed and breakfast and the privacy of a hotel. Accommodations vary from cozy and intimate to gracious and luxurious, all have spacious ceilings — 9-foot high ceilings throughout the second floor and 11-foot ceilings on the main floor.

 

 It's a casual atmosphere, nothing stuffy or pretentious (blue jeans and T-shirts are fine), but the little jewel has the flair one would expect of a well cared for small property — white market umbrellas, a winding stone pathway and gardens with lots of white picket fences yet only one short block off the town's main street. The inn itself has solid almost sound tight walls and offers nearly every imaginable amenity — wireless internet access,  fine bed and bath linens, Frette bath robes, and the absolute ultimate in temperature control, a private total climate system  in each room that is highly efficient and eco-friendly, yet virtually unobtrusive. Oh, and for those who don't care to mingle for breakfast or might be running on a tight schedule, the inn has breakfast room service 6:30 til 11:00 A.M. at no extra charge. The experience offered, in essence, is comfort and attention without intrusion.

  

  Since opening in 2000 this lodging showpiece located 130 miles east of San Francisco has become known as the place to stay in California's central Sierra foothills for discerning business and leisure guests. In recent years fitness icon Jack LaLanne and his wife Elaine have stayed here. A couple of times the inn has hosted the legendary Hollywood actress and Broadway star Miss Carol Channing and her husband Harry Kullijian.  And we have cooked breakfast for gospel artist TaTa Vega who worked with Quincy Jones on four featured vocals in The Color Purple.

 

  Given the limited number of rooms at Bradford Place, the inn's considerable appeal and its ideal location in cute downtown Sonora, advance reservations are suggested.   So give us a call and book a night or two  —  we'd love to add your name to our guest list!   This is a small four room inn and so if you just want to drop by without a reservation, please do so at least by 5:30 in the evening and we'll be happy to show you what room might be available for the night.   Or call us.   You may always call us!

  Whether you are an early riser or someone who prefers sleep over food,  you've found the right place.    The inn has a  breakfast menu just for lodging guests where you may order such Mother Lode entrees as the Gold Miner's Stuffed Potato shown lower right (scroll all the way down).  Breakfast may be delivered to your room from 6:30 to 11:00 each morning or you may come to the main dining area which has tables set for two.   Dottie Musser, inn owner, the decorator supreme and the breakfast chef demonstrates her creativity and consideration for individual tastes and dietary needs,  a testament to her graduate work in dietetics and to her experience as a Santa Barbara bed and breakfast innkeeper.
