 B
radford Place.  Quiet.  Personal.  Comfort.

Open all year.  It commands a prominent location in the adorable downtown of Sonora, California
where the sidewalks roll up around 6 at night and the evening hush settles in.*   Built in 1889 as a residence, Bradford Place today is a very small inn Just four rooms.  Each is completely renovated, each with new Karastan wall to wall carpeting, each with attached private bath, some with whirlpool.  The inn has a bed and breakfast warmth  — no restaurant, bar, butlers or valet parking here.  But hotel privacy is evident from the moment you step inside.  Accommodations vary from cozy and intimate to gracious and luxurious, all with spacious ceilings. Eleven foot ceilings on the main floor, nine foot ceilings throughout the second.  *Black Oak, a 24-hour casino is 7 miles south.

It's a casual relaxed atmosphere. Absolutely nothing stuffy or pretentious, no attitude. Blue jeans and sweat shirts are just fine. Yet the little jewel has the flair one would expect of a well cared for property — white market umbrellas, a winding stone pathway, gardens with white picket fences — and only one short block off the town's very cute main street. The inn itself has solid doors and virtually sound tight walls and offers nearly every imaginable amenity including wireless internet access, Frette bath robes, and the absolute ultimate climate system in each room that's highly efficient and eco-friendly, yet virtually unobtrusive.  And for those who don't care to mingle at breakfast or might be running on a tight schedule,  the inn has breakfast room service 7:00 until 11:00 each  morning at no extra charge.  The experience offered, in essence, is comfort and attention without intrusion.

Since opening in 2000 this lodging showpiece located 130 miles east of San Francisco has become known as the place to stay in California's central Sierra foothills for discerning business and leisure guests. In recent years fitness icon Jack LaLanne and his wife Elaine have stayed here. A couple of times the inn has hosted the legendary Hollywood actress and Broadway star Miss Carol Channing and her husband Harry Kullijian.  And we have cooked breakfast for gospel artist TaTa Vega who worked with Quincy Jones on four featured vocals in The Color Purple.
Business clientele
who frequently stay at Bradford Place include health care professionals and staff, financial and wealth building consultants, government personnel and various law firms.

Given the limited number of rooms at Bradford Place, the inn's considerable appeal and its ideal location in cute downtown Sonora — there's that word "cute" again, advance reservations are suggested.   So give us a call and book a night or two. We'd love to add your name to our guest list!   If you just want to just drop by without a reservation, please do so after our 3:00 o'clock check in time but before 5:30 in the evening when the front desk closes.  We'll be happy to show you what might be available for the night.  Or call us.  You may always call us!    To those of you who "facebook" and "tweet",  may we keep it simple and say to you — right here and right now — "Hello and stop in!"

KEEPING IT GREEN
We’re "Keeping It Green" wherever possible. The inn has five eco-friendly climate systems, and they are amazing! Our primary cleaning agent is isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, and we purchase only eco-friendly bed pillows — they’re filled with shredded water bottles. For hot weather activities, we purchase chilled bottled water for guests to take with them on hiking trails and for other outdoor activities.
WE recycle — but it's optional for our guests

Featuring Ghirardelli Gourmet Double Chocolate Premium Hot Cocoa

Whether you are an early riser or someone who prefers sleep over food,  you've found the right place.    The inn has a  breakfast menu just for lodging guests where you may order such Mother Lode entrees as the Gold Miner's Stuffed Potato shown lower right (scroll all the way down).  Breakfast may be delivered to your room from 7:00 to 11:00 each morning or you may come to the main dining area which has tables set for two.   Dottie Musser, inn owner, the decorator supreme and the breakfast chef demonstrates her creativity and consideration for individual tastes and dietary needs,  a testament to her graduate work in dietetics and to her experience as a Santa Barbara bed and breakfast innkeeper.

Bradford Place is in an envious location smack dab in the middle of historic downtown Sonora "Queen Of The Southern Mines" (population 4,610).  It is right next door to the county offices and the impressive court house, circa 1898. Its lovely restored neighborhood is one block west of Sonora's popular main street (CA Highway 49) which is lined with antique stores, art galleries and wonderful dining and is a favorite place for late night strolls and window shopping. In the central Sierra foothills and in the heart of California's gold country, Sonora is close to the gold rush villages of Columbia and Jamestown, twenty minutes or so to the wineries, caverns and shops at Murphys, and just an hour to the grandeur of Yosemite National Park.

You are invited to relax in Gold Rush Splendor and stay awhile, set your own pace and take in the fresh air.  Maybe do a little winery touring, cavern exploring or what have you. There's absolutely no need to rush because this is California dreamin'.  And check out isn't til noon!
